Hi there! I just wanted to give an end-of-year 2020 update for my rosacea!!!
It’s gotten quite calm. Almost gone actually. My skin has a little bit of a red tinge to it, but people barely notice it now.
So….here I am raw. No make up and a high-def iPhone “after” photo.
You can see in the “after” photo a little piece of my neck compared to my face. Compared to my neck, my face is still a little red/orange. You can also tell that rosacea has left me a little bit of texture. I used to make a small glass spray bottle of alkaline water with a 5 drops of frankincense and 5 drops of lavender as a toner. I did oil cleansing (still do). What the girl in the video doesn’t tell you is that she is using a microfiber washcloth. Cotton will create tears and wrinkles, and will cause acne to spread. And I moisturized with Rose, Jasmine, Geranium combo. A bit expensive, but I could afford it at the time. Nowadays, I really like using The Ordinary skin care line and incorporating my frank/lavender toner into my present routine. Rose oil does have a natural amount of hyaluronic acid, which is great for buffing out textured skin. But I found that I needed to become an acid junkie for my ice pick rosacea scaring. My current routine:
🌞 Morning –
No washing. Just go straight to my frank/lavender toner. Might rub it into my face with clean hands to warm up my skin and give it a little massage.
Then I moisturize with Hyaluronic Moisturizer and either combine it with Vit C or Azelaic Acid, depending on if I’m dealing with rosacea acne or not (azelaic acid if I am).
Then a drop of Niacinamide + Zinc and/or Caffeine (it really does perk your skin up, love it underneath make up).
Sunscreen 110 SPF if going out. We don’t play around with that sun, y’all! Plus, frankincense has retinol in it naturally, which is photosensitive.
🌙 Nighttime –
Oil cleansing with sweet almond oil….ahh, the luxurious silky silk feeling. I just pour the oil right into my hand and I might pour some instant coffee crystals or vitamin C powder if I want some exfoliation. I rub it between my hands to mix the oil in it, then scrub on my face and steam with my microfiber wash cloth. I do this almost every night when I can remember.
Glycolic Acid is next, which I put into a spray bottle. The directions say to use a cotton pad for application, and I am sure there are some added cleansing benefits to this, but cotton causes wrinkles and I avoid that at all costs. And it’s just plain wasteful. I just spray it on my skin like a toner and move onto the next step. Maybe I will invest in an extra microfiber wash cloth to apply it in the future.
2-3 drops of Lactic Acid mixed with MyChelle Retinol Shea Butter Night Cream that I just rub together in my hands. OMG 😲 the MyChelle is a miracle worker. Rosacea left me with fine lines and textured skin. MyChelle has dramatically reduced it. Especially, the fine 11 lines I had between my eyebrows! I was using Rose Hip Oil because of the natural amount of hyalauronic acid in it, but I find the MyChelle night cream way more effective for scarring and uneven texture.
2 times a week I do AHA+BHA Peeling Solution before the final moisturizer and my goodness. It has dramatically improved my texture. I’ve had rosacea for about 9 years. With this current routine. I have seen significant improvements and it has almost given me skin I had before I had rosacea, rosacea acne, and cystic rosacea acne flare ups. I have never had laser, by the way. Perhaps, in the future, but I am enjoying this process for now.
Still getting that little bit of “rosacea acne” between my eyebrows and around my chin and sometimes hormonal acne as you can see in the above photo. My chin is where I get a lot of white heads associated with my rosacea. They’ve calmed down quite a bit since I started taking doTERRA Vegan Life Long Vitality Pack (non-vegan option available with omegas from fish oils), but not completely gone. My revamped skin care routine has helped too, but white heads pop up unexpectedly for me and go away within 2 days or so.
I have started taking cayenne capsules with my vitamins. I know, it sounds counter-intuitive to add heat to my body when I’m dealing with rosacea. I assure you, it works! It’s calmed that last little bit of stubborn rosacea acne I couldn’t shake. Now I just deal with whiteheads, some enlarged pores, and some rosacea break outs from time to time, which is A LOT LESS than what it used to be. The slightly blurry “before” photos above don’t give my rosacea acne the stage it deserves.
Cayenne capsules also help metabolize any supplement you take them with. Meaning, it will deliver the nutrients into your cells faster and more efficiently. It seems like cayenne shouldn’t, but it’s a spice that actually regulates your “heat” (inflammation). Mother Nature is intuitive and has made all of her plants just so. Cayenne knows exactly how to treat your gut, skin, arthritis, etc.
I have taken cayenne capsules extensively in the past. I feel like it keeps that bit of stubborn acne at bay (even hormonal acne), keeps me from getting sick (coronavirus anyone?), and keeps cellulite at bay. I went from 170 lbs to 118 lbs with just doTERRA Vegan Life Long Vitality Pack (non-vegan option).
It took 3 days for my depression and mental fog to clear up. One month for my bowels to finally regulate. (Listen, if you’re not going poop once a day, you’re not living!) I have friends who are curious about my healing journey and want to know how they can lose weight too. I always ask, “How often do you go poop?” You would be astounded that most people say, “Barely, once a day.” 😱 You eat 3 times a day and barely go poop once a day? I’m shook….
You should be pooping 1-3 times a day according to nutritionist and microbiologist Summer Bock!
Then, it took 3 months for me to start losing the inflammation. Sometimes people get dismayed by this amount of time, because people want a 30-day solution or money back, dammit! Sorry, friends. It took me 3 months to finally see a difference in my inflammation, puffiness, weight, water retention. By 6 months I lost a whole shoe size and a half (from size 8 to 6.5) and 4 pant sizes (from size 7 to 3)! Maybe it will be less time for you or more. But I dealt with these symptoms for 15+ years. So for doTERRA to solve my issues in 3-6 months is a Godsend! By the way, doTERRA does have a 30-day money back policy.
I already ate pretty healthy by the way. Protein, starch, and greens combo, just made sure if I ate meat it was organic, hormone free. I’ve been vegan-ish for past 4 months or so with the occasional fish maybe once every two weeks. No particular motivation for the diet change. I just prefer to eat less chicken and red meat at this time. And for the past couple of years I have always bought alkaline water from water filling stations (also available at most Whole Foods water filling machines, usually outside). However, diet and water were not enough. Really needed the added benefit of the right minerals and vitamins.
I know it doesn’t look like it in my “before” photo on the right, above, that I was carrying around a lot of excess weight. BUT, I didn’t have a car for 3 years, only a bicycle, so I got cardio in often. I carried my weight really well with muscles. However my gut always hung out over my pants. I am probably sucking it in for the photo op. 🤪 Even still, if you are able to zoom in you can see my gut sticking out. This photo was taken when my weight had gone down to about 135-140 lbs. You will NOT find a photo of me at 170 lbs. I refused to take photos during this time. I felt pretty, even with all of the rosacea, just not myself. The biggest part of my body during this time was my bloated gut. Every little crumb made my stomach so huge. Prior to rosacea my normal was 118-125 lbs so as of right now I’ve gone back down to my normal. My rosacea started when I was 26. I am 36 now. I started my healing journey with doTERRA 2-ish years ago. So for the first 8 years of rosacea before I started taking essential oil infused supplements my weight fluctuated badly between 125 and 170. It really just did whatever it wanted to no matter what I ate. I was bloated no matter what.
I just joined my sister’s Beach Body team so I did a “before” video shoot above. It’s going semi decent. I work out when I can. What you can’t see in the stills from my video shoot above is the cellulite I used to have at the bottom of my stomach and right below my ass. I love my ass as it is now. It’s not the buffest. I’ve lost about 60 lbs 😲. So…I’m working on it, but I think it’s a pretty fabulous bum.
doTERRA’s Life Long Vitality Pack has definitely helped with the cellulite, hands down. And the added benefit of Nature’s Way cayenne capsules are definitely doing it’s job to boost it even further. I usually take one, but today I started taking 3 (1 with each meal). I am having a small psoriasis outbreak on one of my knuckles, because I got lazy and wasn’t taking my doTERRA Life Long Vitality Vegan Pack for a few weeks. So I am boosting my cayenne intake to really kick its ass and make sure my doTERRA supplements are being metabolized and optimized to the nth degree.
